One of the Best Teacher i met during my school life

I still remember him, my 5th standard class teacher. A guy with average height who looks as if he is a military officer. He was my then English teacher, also a perfect Social Science teacher. I still remember him teaching us about pygmies and their culture, all my classmates where laughing on seeing pygmies' pics in our textbook.
He was soooooooo good enough that he was our favorite teacher then. I still remember his  impositions. I was unaware of "lumbering activities". So I got a handful of impositions about lumbering. He was good in twisting stories and playing games with us, so none of his classes were boring like present day professors.
I like him to be a social science teacher rather than an English teacher. I can recall his classes about reindeer and igloos. His classes were very much interesting and I used to get at least one beating per two days. To say frankly it was the only period in which I was active enough to get a teacher's mere scolding.
We didn't had him as a teacher for long, just one and only one year with us. As he interacted much with us (he was our class teacher) and he taught us far better than others, I think none of my schoolmates might not have forgot him. His name is Mr.Manish. I still remember the last day we gifted him a glass prism like stuff  as a pert of sent off. Last time when I met him, he was working in Kerala State Education Department, Nilambur.

Those silly fights

Most of the quarrels my friends had among them, during my lower primary class, were for "SPACE". If one bench mate says 'you are occupying more space' other guy will say 'it is you who is occupying more space'.
Then the quarrel starts, they will start pushing each other, many a times I had to suffer because I was at the end of bench. Well I was bit chubby too. So sometimes I was forced to push back till mam stare at us.
Once I felled on a girl's feet who was sitting at the end in the next bench, just because my bench mates were too kind to me. I was lucky that she didn't stamped on my back. As a revenge, I kept a pencil upright on the bench, in such a way that, my cool buddy will sit on. Well it happened as I expected. He accused me, but I acted so well that it wasn't me. That is when I found out that, I had a such skills to act.

My journey to school!

Till 8th standard we were allowed to go to school only in school bus. School bus used to come early in the morning by 7:30am, it go to lot other interior places too, hence it reaches school after long time!
We had a great and not so FRIENDLY driver whom we feared the most. He was an ex-military so we have to be well disciplined in school bus. I still remember him scolding my friends for sleeping by the window, for talking loudly..etc....Always he had his own reasons!

After 8th standard we were allowed to use any public transport bus service.I thought my journey would be much better but from my bus stop, I had only one direct bus to reach school in time, the next bus would make me late. I usually run for my bus, 7:30 was the time of the bus & I used to leave home by 7:25. If I go by that bus, I will be the first person to reach my school, to such an extent that It made even the principal to ask me not to come so early but I had no other choice.

If I miss that bus (rarely) then, I will have to go by an auto to the nearby town to get a bus, & there will be a plenty of buses one after another!

The terrible thing during those days was that we had concessions in our bus fares so that conductor will not be pleased enough to allow us on the bus. Looks on conductor's face was so terrible that it will ruin my whole day!

From the bus stop near school, I had to walk a long distance to reach my Higher Secondary School building, that too without getting much attention from principal's home which was on the way!
I just enjoy that walking by plucking grass, throwing stones, playing football with stones, staring at mangoes wishing they were in my mouth... I hardly had someone to give a company!
When I reach that building, there will be no one except some dogs sleeping in the school ground! Some days I will have to wait outside till one of the non-teaching staff comes with the key & open the classroom!

After entering into the classroom, I feel like the King of class till someone else come. When someone arrives, It is time to copy homework. I share what I have written, they share what they have written. So homework will be perfect when my teacher looks it.

What made me a volunteer?- My experiences as a volunteer!

None used to compel any of the students in my school to be a volunteer....but fact is that an indirect threatening was there! They put a little pressure by saying about 'grades' for these works as per syllabus (Socially Useful Public Work)!
So I too have been a volunteer in our school during many occasions!

The most enjoyed were my volunteer duties in "Refreshment" section during sports days & annual days. My main duty there was to give water, lemon juice & other eatables for officials & other students. So I was never thirsty or hungry..lol. There were times when I smuggled eatables to my friends who were taking part in sports.

Once or thrice I had got duty in ground , that too in running track. There my duty was similar to a postman, taking messages from one end of the ground to another end. Always I had to run to give results to the jury section. After each racing competition, my race starts! Well I enjoyed it.

The last annual day for me in the school was unforgettable!
I got duty in the parking lot. A lot of mess! I am supposed to guide those drivers 'park there', 'no parking there',' please move your vehicle little',' its two wheeler area so u may not park here',.................etc ! There was an old jumping pit filled with sand near to the road & parking area, so I had to take care of that too! All vehicles come directly to it, I used to jump in front of those vehicles and warn them. At last I fed up and i put a chair in front of that pit a sat on it! After everything was over I reached home @ 2 or 2:30 pm late in night!

Nice to remember those volunteer experiences!
I still find it great to remember the day on which we first reaped paddy. All of us in wet muddy soil with sickles in hand, we reaped a lot. Few of us even threw mud at each other. We even made concrete once. I was the guy who filled sand and later I took the easy job of pouring water to the concrete mixer.  And we made our road to high school building much stronger with that concrete. Our then principal & director of school also worked along with us. After the work he asked us "what you guys wish to eat?". He was in such a good mood that he may buy anything! We asked for broast  chicken, which was then popular. It came in a delivery van in no time and all of us enjoyed eaating it.
